Alternative Engagement Rings, Asymmetric

You are either gasping with awe or shuddering in anguish when I talk about asymmetrical engagement rings! There are some personalities who cannot abide by this style but for those who are little more edgy and see beauty in the disproportion, this a ring style to consider! But, what are the pros and considerations of this style?

Pros

Eye Catching: Symmetry is all around us in nature, and it has become a big part of our style from home interiors to jewelry. Even our bodies are symmetrical! When we see a design that does not follow the same rules, it catches our eye and causes us to pause and visually explore the details. You will get comments on your ring!

Considerations

Physically Catching: While not every asymmetrical ring style falls into this category, quite a few do. When you have one side that sticks out, that will inevitably be the side that your sweater catches on, especially if there are prongs as opposed to a bezel. This can cause damage to your ring over time, and makes it important to take your beloved engagement ring off when you clean, garden, or exercise.

Consider the bride: This is the most important one! If she is not the one choosing the ring or has not given you specific pictures of asymmetrical rings, I advise not to get one because symmetry can be a big deal to people! Over the years, I have seen physical body shudders of disdain from clients when talking about an asymmetrical design. It is kind of funny, but very serious!

With that being said, if you love the unique designs of asymmetrical engagement rings and know the wearer will too, then you should have one! In no way do I want to dissuade you from one, but understanding the pros and considerations are part of the process!
