Jewelry Stories with Lauren

I met Lauren during the Pandemic at a Zoom meeting put on by the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce. She was a new coaching business in Atascadero, and she seemed like a great person, so I reached out to get to know her. Over the past year, we have met to discuss life and all the things going on in our businesses, and so I was honored when she reached out to me to design a ring for herself!

Lauren made an appointment with me, and we sat down together in my studio to talk about what she was envisioning. Lauren has been reflecting a lot of what it means to be in a relationship with herself and how to treat herself like she is a priority. She wanted this ring to be a physical reminder of how important she is.

She didn’t want diamonds, but opted to go with an Opal. Every Opal is unique in its color arrangement and pattern, so I got multiple Opals in for her to choose the one that spoke to her. I wanted to begin with choosing her Opal because this was going to be the centerpiece of her ring. It should grab her every time she looked at it! If you know Lauren, you know that she has tiny hands, so a big ring wasn’t going to look best on her. She loved the idea of a by-pass style of ring because it represents going with the flow of life. We decided to add texture to the gold so that the shiny of the gold did not compete with the beauty of the Opal. It also is a good representation of how our journeys can be rough, yet when looked at from above, there is beauty in how the rough comes together.

It was a joyous morning when Lauren came to meet her new ring, and a few happy tears were shed! I really enjoyed creating this for Lauren because jewelry is all about connection! We got to connect and bring intangible ideas into reality. She got to connect with herself and think about Lauren wants, what her style is, and then got comfortable with it.
