Consultation: A relaxed private session at my Atascadero studio. Bring inspiration photos if you have them (or just bring your questions). We'll talk about her style, your budget, and whether an onsite stone or a custom design is the right path. [Typical timeframe: Week 1]
Stone selection & design approval: If we're going custom, I source loose diamonds or colored gemstones that match what you're looking for, and we refine the design together until it feels exactly right.

Crafting your ring: Skilled artisans handcraft your setting in your choice of metal, set the stone, and finish the piece with a careful quality inspection. [Typical timeframe: Weeks 4–6]
The reveal: You pick up a ring you're proud to give, along with care instructions, appraisal paperwork, and standing cleaning appointments for as long as you own it.

Colored Gemstone Centers
Not every love story needs a white diamond at the center.
You can have any color of the rainbow with sapphire to create a ring with personality and color.
Blue sapphires remain the classic choice, but blue-green of Montana sapphires are a close second; softer tones like peach sapphire suit romantic, vintage-leaning brides
Alternate Metals and Two-Tone Designs
Mixing yellow gold with platinum or white gold accents adds warmth and dimension.
Rose gold remains a favorite for romantic, non-traditional styles.
Antique and Vintage-Inspired Cuts
Old Mine cut and Old European cut diamonds have a warm, candlelit sparkle that modern brilliant cuts simply can't recreate.
Pair them with milgrain detailing or delicate filigree for a genuine heirloom feel.
Salt-and-Pepper and Fancy-Color Diamonds
Grey-toned "salt and pepper" diamonds and fancy yellow and champagne stones are perfect for clients who want a diamond.

I regularly redesign inherited jewelry into modern settings while honoring the original piece. (This is some of the most meaningful work I do.)

What Does a Unique Engagement Ring Cost?
Most of my clients invest between $3,000.00 to $25,000.00 for a custom engagement ring, with many falling in the $4,000.00 to $7,000.00 range.
Your final price depends on the center stone you choose, the metal, and the complexity of the design — and I'll give you transparent pricing at every decision point, so there are never surprises.
A few things worth knowing:

Lab-grown diamonds typically cost 85-90% less than comparable natural stones, which can mean a larger stone or a more intricate setting for the same budget.

Colored gemstone centers like morganite or aquamarine are often the most affordable way to get a striking, one-of-a-kind look.

Custom doesn't automatically mean expensive. Redesigning an heirloom stone, or building around a stone from my onsite collection, can bring the cost down considerably.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I start the ring process?
For a fully custom design, start 8-10 weeks before your hoped-for proposal date. If you're choosing from stones I have onsite, the timeline can be much shorter. Proposing sooner than expected?
Call me — I've helped plenty of last-minute proposers.
Can I use a diamond or stone I already have?
Yes — resetting an existing stone or redesigning a family heirloom is one of my specialties. Sentimental pieces are handled with the care they deserve.
What if I don't know the ring size or style?
You're in good company; most clients don't at first.
I have discreet ways to help you figure out both. Borrow a ring she owns, ask a trusted friend, or bring photos of what she wears — we'll work it out together.
How do I keep this a surprise?
My private, by-appointment studio means no risk of running into someone she knows.
I'm also happy to communicate through whichever channel keeps the secret safe.
Do you work with couples, or just proposers?
Both. Many couples design the ring together. It's a wonderful way to start. Whatever feels right for you works for me.
Do you offer virtual consultations?
Yes — remote appointments are available for clients outside the Atascadero / Central Coast area.
