Wedding Planning Advice from a Jeweler
Planning your wedding is both adventurous and overwhelming! Just when you think you have things mapped out, the small details begin showing up en masse. As someone who has planned a wedding and has talked to lots of people in the planning stages, here is my advice.
It’s All About You
Your wedding is what you and your partner want it to be, not what is standard in the wedding industry.
Food trucks instead of caterers? Do it. Cookies instead of cake? Do it. Courthouse wedding with a party later in the year? Do it. Postcard invitations? Do it.
We used to have such constraining traditions with weddings, but you get to decide how you want your wedding to look and feel.
What Is Going To Last
At the end of the day, there are only two things that will last beyond the wedding day – your jewelry and your photos.
· Jewelry: With regular care and maintenance, your jewelry will last generations. Great grandchildren, whom you may never meet, will be wearing your wedding rings and telling your story. Make sure you get what you want and what represents you!
· Photos: The table decorations will never be remembered, but your photos hanging on the wall will be seen every day until you decide to update them. Make sure you choose the right photographer!
Weddings are expensive, so spend your dollars on the things that will last long after the day becomes a distant memory.

So cliché, right? But, it is true!
Plan your wedding day, and perhaps weekend, around the love and joy of the occasion. I have seen couples so caught up in the details of the presentation of the wedding that they miss out on the enjoyment of it.
