Book Gems

As many of you may already know, I LOVE reading books! My mom is an avid book reader, so I think I picked that up from her. Here is a list of books I have read this year that I have really enjoyed. Most of them aren’t jewelry themed, but their worlds and knowledge make them gems to me!

Non-Fiction: Most of what I read in fiction, but these non-fiction books are really good!

·       Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. This book changed my perception on hospitality, in a good way!

·       Revenge of the Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. This book made me think of the why and brought to light the beautiful and scary consequences of social engineering.

Fiction:

·       Fourth Wing (The Empyrean series, #1) by Rebecca Yarros. Oh my goodness! I laughed out loud, cried, and was on the edge of my seat with all the action!

·       The Story Collector by Evie Gaughan. This book was moody and magical! It jumped back and forth between Ireland in 1911 and Ireland in 2011.

·       Witch Hunt (Full Moon Mystery #1) by Cate Conte. I was drawn to this book by her crystal/jewelry shop, but stayed for the magical fun!

·       A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton. A great murder mystery set in the early 1980’s in Santa Theresa, aka, Santa Barbara. It was fun revisiting a time when cell phones and the internet were unheard of.

·       The Saturday Night Ghost Club by Craig Davidson. A coming-of-age story set in the 1980’s where the supernatural is often the only way to make sense of the realities of life.

·       Cat Got Your Diamonds (Kitty Couture Mystery #1) by Julie Chase. Cats, diamonds, NOLA, and a sexy cop! A fun cozy murder mystery series.

·       House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City #1) by Sarah J Maas. SO good!! I really like how the main character evolves throughout the three books. It is action that crosses over with her other series, A Court of Thorns, at the very end of book 3.

I could go on, as I have read over 35 books alone this year (GoodReads challenge).
